Following are last week’s top collegiate football performances by former South Bay high school and community college players: * Johnnie Morton, USC, freshman: The former South Torrance High receiver had four catches for 70 yards and scored the Trojans’ last two touchdowns, including a 23-yard reception from Todd Marinovich with 16 seconds left, in a 45-42 victory over UCLA.

* Curtis Conway, USC, freshman: The former Hawthorne quarterback returned four kickoffs for 76 yards in the Trojans’ victory.

* Arnold Ale, UCLA, sophomore: The former Carson linebacker had six unassisted tackles in the Bruins’ loss.

* Treamelle Taylor, Nevada Reno, senior: The former Hawthorne and El Camino College receiver had five catches for 168 yards and three touchdowns in a 50-16 victory over Western Illinois. Taylor was named Nevada’s team MVP for the second consecutive season.

* Fred Gatlin, Nevada Reno, sophomore: The former Carson quarterback completed 19 of 28 passes with no interceptions for 372 yards and five touchdowns in the Wolfpack’s victory. The five TD passes tied a school record.

* Marlon Primous, Illinois, junior: The former Banning defensive back had five tackles and a pass breakup in a 24-10 victory over Indiana. Primous, third on the team in tackles, had 20 tackles two weeks ago in a 22-17 loss to Michigan, the most by an Illinois defensive back since 1977.

* Greg Thomas, Colorado, junior: The former Rolling Hills defensive back had three tackles and a forced fumble for the nation’s No. 1 team in a 64-3 victory over Kansas State.

* Tyrone Rodgers, Washington, junior: The former Banning defensive lineman had three tackles, a sack and helped the Huskies limit Washington State to minus-11 yards rushing in a 55-10 victory.
