Fresno State Rolls Past USIU

Tod Bernard scored 19 points to lead a balanced Fresno State attack Friday night in a 104-76 victory over U.S. International in the first round of the Coors Light Classic.

Fresno State will meet Pepperdine, an 83-76 winner over Montana State earlier Friday night, in Saturday’s title game.

The 104 points was the most scored in a game by Fresno State since 1976. It was the Bulldogs’ first game under new coach Gary Colson.

Carl Ray Harris and Dave Barnett each scored 18 for the Bulldogs. Fresno State used a 13-0 run midway through the first half to open up a 53-36 halftime lead, and the Bulldogs led by as many as 31 points in the second half.

Kevin Bradshaw led USIU with 24 points, but he was only 10-of-36 on his field goal attempts. He was third leading scorer in the nation last season, averaging 31 points per game.

As a team, USIU made just 30 of 98 field goal attempts. Fresno was over 50 percent, making 44 of 81 shots.

Freshman Doug Harris of Fresno had 12 points in his college debut.
