CHARGER REVIEW : REPORT CARD : They Stayed After School for This?
D: QUARTERBACKS
You asked for it, you wanted Billy Joe Tolliver to start completing his passes, so he does--to Arthur Cox. Fourth-quarter interception revives Seattle.
A: RUNNING BACKS
He may not do much for ESPN’s ratings, but the Chargers would do well to put a saddle on Marion Butts’ back and ride the big hoss till he drops.
F: RECEIVERS
Arthur Cox refuses comment after game, preferring to let his performance speak for itself. Anthony Miller remains most exciting unused player in the game.
B+: OFFENSIVE LINE
They look like they’ve just come from Thanksgiving dinner, but when these Jenny Craig washouts throw their weight around, they add to Butts’ success.
B+: DEFENSIVE LINE
Lee Williams probably won’t be going to the Pro Bowl, but Dave Krieg will pay for his trip to Hawaii if he agrees to bypass next game with Seattle.
B: LINEBACKERS
Leslie O’Neal got held more Sunday night than most babies get held in a lifetime. See, the only thing Junior Seau needed was national TV exposure.
B: DEFENSIVE BACKS
Sam Seale spots John L. Williams a 20-yard headstart, then goes into Carl Lewis-overdrive to run him down. Donald Frank is a TD waiting to happen for foe.
C-: SPECIAL TEAMS
Charger convicts continue to get flagged for illegal activity on kickoffs. Holding call on final kickoff pins Chargers back, and sets up winning FG.
F: COACHING
No doubt Coach Dan Henning will find cause to blame officials for this loss, too. How many things does Arthur Cox have to do wrong to be sent to the bench?
