Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli Arrested for Investigation of Sexual Battery
Rob Pilatus, a member of the lip-syncing pop duo Milli Vanilli, was arrested for investigation of sexual battery Tuesday in West Los Angeles, police said.
Pilatus, 26, was arrested at his home on North Beverly Glen Boulevard at 5:30 a.m., officers said. His alleged victim is a 25-year-old woman, police said.
Pilatus, whose name was spelled “Pilatos” in the police report, was freed on $10,485 bail shortly after being booked, officers said. Arraignment was set for this morning in West Los Angeles Municipal Court.
The national Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences last week stripped Pilatus and his partner, Fabrice Morvan, of their 1989 Grammy as best new artist after it was revealed that the duo did not actually sing on their best-selling album, “Girl, You Know It’s True.”
Sexual battery is defined as touching “an intimate part of another person while that person is unlawfully restrained.”
Pilatus smiled and pretended ignorance of the charges Tuesday night, asking reporters “What charges? What charges? . . . Too much publicity,” when they sought a response as he drove away from his home with Morvan and another man.
“I go now to a nice restaurant,” he said on a videotape aired by KCAL Channel 9. “I have some salad and some chicken.”
