Bradley Named WSC’s Player of the Year

Freddie Bradley of Moorpark College, a senior who set or tied four national junior college football records during the season, has been selected as the Western State Conference player of the year for the second season in a row.

Bradley, who set career records for scoring (318 points), rushing touchdowns (48) and all-purpose rushing yards (4,124) and tied the single-season mark for rushing touchdowns (27), also was honored as the Northern Division offensive player of the year for the second time.

Glendale linebacker Lolesio Takapu was selected as the Northern Division defensive player of the year, and Santa Monica quarterback Jeff Barrett, formerly of Burroughs High, was honored as the Southern Division offensive player of the year.

Barrett completed 165 of 266 passes for 2,648 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Corsairs, who will meet Moorpark in the WSC Bowl on Saturday at Moorpark College.

Bradley, who led WSC backs with 1,946 yards this season, was one of seven Moorpark players who were All-Northern Division first-team selections.

Glendale, the division champion, had 11 selections and Ventura had seven.

Valley had six All-Southern Division first-team selections and Pierce had two.
