Brenda Hecht, a community activist in the San Marino area whose volunteer activities included lengthy work with the Huntington Art Gallery, the Parent Teachers Assn. and the Pasadena Junior Philharmonic, died Saturday night.
The wife of Michael Hecht, board chairman and chief executive officer of the Broadway Department Stores, and mother of their four children was 50 when she died of leukemia at the City of Hope in Duarte.
Born Brenda Clucas, she graduated from Cornell University and received a master of arts from Tufts University.
She married in 1962 and taught school in Cincinnati before coming to California with her husband in 1975 when he began work at Broadway.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at San Marino Community Church at 3:30 p.m.
Friends wishing to pay respects may do so at the church the day of the service from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to the City of Hope.
In addition to her husband and children, a sister, Nancy Clucas, of Buffalo, N.Y. also survives.
