A 46-year-old Camarillo woman died Tuesday morning after jumping in front of a freight train traveling through the east end of the city, officials said.

Francoise Grosjean died of traumatic injuries about 12:45 a.m. on the Southern Pacific tracks near Barry Street and Lewis Road, said Deputy Coroner Zelmira Isaac. The Ventura County coroner’s office listed her death as a suicide, Isaac said.

Workers on the southbound train saw Grosjean standing on the side of the tracks early Tuesday. Just as the train approached, she jumped in front of it, said Lt. Paul Anderson of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
