Apples Distributed: The Hollywood Women’s Press Club held its 50th Golden Apple Awards ceremony Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, with awards going out to Whoopi Goldberg and Patrick Swayze as Stars of the Year, and to Julia Roberts, Carrie Fisher and Kyle MacLachlan as Discoveries of the Year. Dennis Weaver and Helen Hayes each received the Louella O. Parsons Humanitarian Award. The Sour Apple Award went to Zsa Zsa Gabor who was deemed “least newsworthy star of the year. . . .” And speaking of Zsa Zsa, the convicted cop slapper will start a six-night stand at Vegas World in Las Vegas on Dec. 28.
