The Boston Red Sox were prepared to make an offer today for right-handed slugger and free agent Jack Clark, according to General Manager Lou Gorman. The offer is expected to be for two years and reportedly in the neighborhood of $5.6 million. Clark hit 25 home runs and batted .266 with the San Diego Padres last season.
