SAN ANTONIO — An 86-year-old man outran a would-be bicycle thief, sprinting about 300 yards to save his bike and nab the 11-year-old suspect for police.
“He fought back,” Jose Navarro said Monday after he reclaimed his bicycle. “He tried to get loose, and I warded off his licks.”
Navarro, a retired test driver, said he had parked his 12-speed bicycle on a street corner so he could purchase a newspaper when the boy tried to take the bike.
“The old man is very well built and chased him down,” detective Dennis Booher said. The boy was remanded to the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center.
