Here is a look at the players who make up the All-Glendale team.

OFFENSE

Pathon Rucker, Glendale--The Times’ Glendale back of the year rushed for 1,878 yards and scored 29 touchdowns.

Rucker, who was named to the All-Glendale team last season as a sophomore, was named co-player of the year in the Pacific League.

Robert Mancilla, Eagle Rock--The 5-foot-6, 141-pound running back received more votes from Glendale-area City Section coaches than any City player on the All-Glendale team.

Mancilla helped the Eagles finish 5-4 overall and 5-2 in the Northern Conference.

Chaka Miller, Flintridge Prep--Perhaps the most versatile athlete on the All-Glendale team, Miller moved from tight end to quarterback this season and passed for 1,044 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 437 yards and six touchdowns.

The 6-3, 215-pound Miller, an All-Glendale selection last season as a tight end, also returned three kicks for touchdowns.

Eric Kiesau, Glendale--Kiesau was not spectacular, but he was an efficient leader who improved rapidly during Glendale’s unbeaten roll through the regular season.

Kiesau, a second-team All-Pacific League quarterback, had only one pass intercepted in 99 attempts.

Chris Kalaleh, Hoover--The key wide receiver in the Tornadoes’ attack, Kalaleh had 43 catches for 556 yards.

“He has great hands and consistently makes the difficult receptions,” Hoover Coach Dennis Hughes said. “We did not see a better receiver this year.”

Ray Grijalva, Crescenta Valley--At 6-1, 185 pounds, Grijalva was not the biggest tight end in the Pacific League, but he was the best, according to the coaches’ votes.

A good blocker, Grijalva caught 28 passes for 373 yards.

“He catches and runs with the ball very well,” Coach Jim Beckenhauer said.

Albert Ocon, Glendale--Ocon, The Times’ Glendale lineman of the year, is a three-time All-Pacific League performer.

The 6-2, 260-pound guard anchored an offensive line that helped Rucker run roughshod over opponents.

Leonard Duenas, St. Francis--The Golden Knights used a tailback-by-committee for much of the season, but it did not matter who carried the ball with Duenas as offensive guard.

Named first-team All-San Fernando League after he helped lead St. Francis to the playoffs, Duenas also was a standout linebacker.

Daniel Galan, Hoover--A consistent, aggressive blocker at center, Galan was selected first-team All-Pacific League.

Galan, 5-10, 195, had few problems with bigger defensive linemen and quicker linebackers.

Max Ocon, Glendale--He played somewhat in the shadow of his older brother, Albert, but Max made a name for himself this season at tackle.

Ocon, 6-0, 210, was named first-team All-Pacific League and was one of the keys to Rucker’s success.

Bill Sowders, La Canada--The biggest player on the All-Glendale team was selected lineman of the year in the Rio Hondo League.

Sowders, 6-4, 260, is scheduled to make recruiting trips to UCLA and Oregon.

David Bronner, Hoover--Bronner made seven of 10 field-goal attempts, including one of 52 yards. He also had a 57-yard kick nullified by a penalty.

Bronner, a 6-4, 195-pound senior, averaged 39 yards a punt with a long of 64. Bronner and Rick Siegler of La Canada (38 yards a kick) gave the area two of the Southern Section’s most reliable punters.

DEFENSE

Ely Enriquez, Glendale--A first-team All-Pacific League selection, Enriquez led the Dynamiters’ defense from his free safety position.

Enriquez, 5-10, 165, had a team-high 120 tackles and three interceptions.

Ricky Araujo, Marshall--The Barristers’ most valuable player had three interceptions in his first season on the varsity.

Araujo, a 5-9, 150-pound senior defensive back, also was a standout running back, gaining 383 yards and catching 16 passes for 164 yards.

Pat Escamilla, St. Francis--Another versatile performer, Escamilla led the Golden Knights with three interceptions and was named to the All-San Fernando League team at cornerback.

He also played running back and scored five touchdowns.

Arin Dunn, Eagle Rock--Selected second-team All-Glendale last season as a running back, Dunn made the first team this year as a defensive back.

At 5-8, 147 pounds, Dunn was recognized by coaches as one of the best players among area City Section schools.

Hector Maya, Glendale--The spiritual leader of the Dynamiter defense from his linebacker position, Maya was selected first-team All-Pacific League.

Maya, a 5-9, 200-pound senior, also was one of the best running backs in the area, gaining 680 yards when he wasn’t running interference for Rucker.

Marty Konrad, St. Francis--A linebacker who was selected lineman of the year in the San Fernando League, Konrad had 8 1/2 sacks, blocked three passes and a punt and returned a fumble for a touchdown.

Konrad has recruiting trips planned to Pacific, Fresno State and San Diego State.

KyiamoWaki Jones, Glendale--A great hitter at linebacker, Jones was selected first-team All-Pacific League after getting in on 88 tackles and intercepting two passes.

He also gained 238 yards in 34 carries at running back.

Jason Schwaiger, Crescenta Valley--An aggressive hitter and a team leader, Schwaiger was a force at linebacker and gained 762 yards and scored five touchdowns as a running back.

At 5-11, 180 pounds, he challenged and regularly beat bigger and faster opponents on both sides of the line.

Ernie Hull, St. Francis--Selected first-team All-San Fernando League, Hull anchored the defensive line that helped get the Golden Knights into the playoffs.

Hull, 6-3, 215 pounds, is scheduled to make a recruiting trip to Pacific.

Bill Tuttle, Glendale--Tuttle, a defensive end, had 103 tackles in the regular season and was selected first-team All-Pacific League.

Tuttle, 6-1, 195 pounds, also played tight end and punter. He has scheduled recruiting trips to Arizona State, Colorado State and USC.

Jon Berg, Crescenta Valley--The leading vote-getter at nose guard by Pacific League coaches, Berg is the only sophomore on the All-Glendale team.

Berg, who also played running back, has great leverage.
