A 78-year-old woman who was killed Tuesday as she was crossing a street may have been disoriented, a San Diego County coroner’s official said.

Edna Violet Finley was crossing in the 4500 block of Collwood Boulevard when she was struck by a car driven by a San Diego man, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. The driver was not cited, he added.

Finley died at Mercy Hospital, where she was taken with multiple head injuries, Deputy Coroner Robert Engel said. He said she had an ailment that caused confusion and disorientation.

Finley is the 81st person to die in a traffic accident and the 25th pedestrian to be killed this year, Robinson said. In 1989, there were 105 traffic fatalities.
