David Green, executive director of AMI’s Del Amo Hospital in Torrance, has been elected to the board of directors of the California Assn. of Hospitals and Health Systems. He has also been appointed to the governing counsel, psychiatric section, of the American Hospital Assn. Green said the board of the governing counsel is composed of top executives and key physician leaders from throughout the United States “who help set policy and direction for hospitals across the U.S.A. There’s special emphasis on the political direction taken by the federal government, regarding such things as mental health care, chemical dependency, and the overall health picture in this country.” Del Amo Hospital is a 166-bed psychiatric facility.

Redondo Beach Police Chief Roger M. Moulton has announced the promotion of Police Officers Richard Petersen, 34, and Bruce Rosin, 38, to the rank of sergeant. Petersen, a 13-year veteran of the department, is married and is a third-generation Redondo Beach police officer. Rosin has 14 years of service with the department, is married and the father of two children. Petersen and Rosin will work as uniformed field supervisors.

The American Art Therapy Assn. has named Shirley Riley of Loyola Marymount University as clinician of the year for her contributions to family art therapy. Riley, an art therapy adjunct professor, has been at LMU since 1980. She has been a therapist with the Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center in Culver City for the last 15 years and has published numerous articles on her art-therapy work with families and couples. She also coordinates the art-therapy internship program at Loyola Marymount. Art therapy is used to help people gain self-awareness, solve problems and express feelings through their artwork.

The Los Angeles Area Council, Boy Scouts of America has awarded George Graziadio the 1990 Good Scout Award. Graziadio has been an active supporter of many community and charity programs throughout the state, such as the Boy Scouts and the Torrance Memorial Medical Center Health Care Foundation. He is vice chairman of the board, president and CEO of Imperial Bancorp, and co-founder of Imperial Bank.

Bill Ritter is the new president of the board of directors, Los Verdes Men’s Golf and Country Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Serving with Ritter during 1991 will be board members Ray Maggard, Larry Sprengel, Duane Vienna, Jim Coerper, Irv Rodner, Norm Hill, Chris Ratay, G. Larry Rice, Lou Appleton, Joe Bonadies, Jim Good, John Williams, Ben Serns and Aran Vaznaian.

Andre Nizetich of San Pedro has been elected to the board of directors of the California Cosmetology Assn., the governing body for the cosmetologists in the state of California. The association, which monitors legislation in Sacramento that may adversely affect the beauty industry, is affiliated with the National Cosmetology Assn. Nizetich is owner of Andre’s Hair Studio in San Pedro and has been in the beauty industry for more than 30 years, the last 11 in San Pedro.

James N. Loughran, president of Loyola Marymount University, has announced that Prof. Christopher N. May has been awarded the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Award, Sciences Category, for his publication, “In the Name of War, Judicial Review and War Powers Since 1918” (Harvard University Press). May is the James P. Bradley Professor of Constitutional Law at Loyola Law School. He received his A.B. from Harvard College in 1965 and an LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1968, was director of research for the National Institute for Education in Law and Poverty during 1968-69 and was staff attorney with the San Francisco Neighborhood Legal Assistance Foundation from 1970-73, at which time he joined the Loyola Law School faculty. He served as associate dean of the law school from 1975-79.
