SIMI VALLEY : Barry Chosen to Lead School Board
The Simi Valley Unified School District Board of Education elected Judy Barry to a one-year term as president and swore in two new members at its meeting Tuesday night.
Barry, a former elementary school teacher, said she would like to improve morale among district employees and enhance the school system’s public image.
The school board also elected Diane Collins to serve a second term as clerk. Collins is a program administrator for the Southern California Assn. of Governments.
Carla Kurachi, a counselor, and Doug Crosse, a semi-retired alarm company owner, took the oath of office as new board members. They won the Nov. 6 election, which unseated 22-year board member Lew Roth.
