Goaltender Andy Moog recorded his 200th victory as the Boston Bruins cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres Thursday night at Boston.

“It’ll hit me a little later on,” said Moog, an 11-year veteran who had 143 victories with Edmonton and has 57 with Boston.

The victory, with Coach Mike Milbury sitting out the third game of his five-game suspension, increased the Bruins’ Adam Division lead to seven points over the idle Montreal Canadiens.

Moog had 21 saves and extended his unbeaten streak to five games. The Bruins had 38 shots on Buffalo goalie Darren Puppa.

Jim Wiemer, Cam Neely, Randy Burridge and Vladimir Ruzicka scored for the Bruins.

Vancouver 7, Edmonton 4--Trevor Linden scored three goals, including the tiebreaker in the third period, and added three assists to power the Canucks at Vancouver.

Linden gave the Canucks a 5-4 lead when he scored at 2:52 of the third period, his second of the game and only seven seconds after Mark Messier tied the score for Edmonton.

The Canucks gained a two-goal margin at 10:25 when Linden got his third goal during a power play.

N.Y. Islanders 4, Hartford 2--David Volek scored three goals and added an assist at Uniondale, N.Y., as the Islanders extended their unbeaten streak to five games.

Glenn Healy stopped 26 shots for the Islanders and preserved the victory by gloving Mikael Andersson’s low slap shot with 1:44 to play in regulation.

The Whalers were 6-0 against Patrick Division teams before Thursday night’s loss.

Pittsburgh 4, Minnesota 3--Mark Recchi scored with 54 seconds left in the third period at Pittsburgh as the Penguins extended their winning streak to a season-high five games.

John Cullen centered to Recchi for the game-winning goal.

Detroit 3, Winnipeg 1--Sergei Fedorov scored the go-ahead goal at Detroit to give the Red Wings their fifth victory in six games.

Fedorov, who also had the go-ahead goal in the third period Tuesday night against Philadelphia, scored early in the final period against the Jets to break a 1-1 tie.

New Jersey 3, Philadelphia 3--John MacLean’s second goal lifted the Devils to the tie at Philadelphia in a game marked by 72 penalty minutes in the first period.

MacLean, who entered the game as the NHL’s second-leading goal-scorer, picked up a kick-pass from Peter Stastny and shot the puck past Ron Hextall with 5:09 left in the third period.

Washington 3, St. Louis 3--Brett Hull scored on two third-period deflections at St. Louis to increase his NHL-leading goal total to 35 as Blues rallied for a tie with the Capitals, who have won only once in six games.
