Body of Child Discovered After Fire in Reseda
The body of a 5-year-old girl was found in a closet Saturday evening after a fire in a Reseda house, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The blaze was put out shortly before 7 p.m., 15 minutes after firefighters arrived at the residence in the 7000 block of N. Bothwell Road.
The girl’s father and another child were also home when the fire began, but both escaped uninjured, Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said.
Acevedo said it is not unusual for small children to try to hide in closets when a fire breaks out.He said the child’s parents were both transported to Northridge Hospital because of the emotional trauma.
The cause of the blaze--which caused about $45,000 worth of damage--is under investigation.
