KATELLA KLASSIC : Western Will Meet Katella in Semifinals

Western maintained its perfect record, and Katella got off to a fast start and easily rolled to victory Wednesday, advancing to the semifinals of the Katella Klassic.

Western defeated Bishop Montgomery, 56-40, to improve to 9-0. The Pioneers’ tight man defense forced 19 turnovers.

Western’s Thomas Barraza scored a game-high 24 points, with teammate Steve Siefken adding 11. Western will play Katella in a semifinal game at 8 p.m. Friday.

Kirk Jones led Bishop Montgomery with 11points, while Marlon D’Oyen added 10.

Katella 75, Bell 65--Bell was outscored, 24-5, during the first seven minutes of the second quarter as Katella built a 22-point lead it would never relinquish.

Roger Arias scored 18 points and Kevin Carlson 15 for Katella.

Katella was never threatened in the second half as the lead remained in double figures. Bell made the score respectable during the final two minutes after Katella Coach Tom Danley emptied his bench.
