A Procrastinator’s Guide to New Year’s Eve : Events: Champagne-fortified revelers will be entertained in style at these Southland venues.

If you’re like a lot of people, you put off making those New Year’s Eve plans until the last minute. Maybe you can’t decide what you might want to do or where you want to go, or even if you do.

So for the procrastinators among us, here is a list of year-end festivities--and some pretty dandy ones--that, at press time, still had room for one, if not many, more. Prices are per person, unless noted otherwise.

Stage

“Tamara”(Il Vittoriale, 2035 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood, (213) 851-9999). Besides the customary free-flowing champagne and buffet at Il Vittoriale, patrons of this show will be treated to music and dancing, psychics and Tarot card readers, and the traditional clock countdown to midnight. 7 p.m. $150.

“Love Letters”(Canon Theatre, 205 N. Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, (213) 859-2830). Gena Rowlands and Ben Gazzara appear as the mismatched bluebloods in A.R. Gurney’s long-running play. 7 and 10 p.m. $50, includes sparkling cider.

“Best of the Groundlings”(Groundling Theatre, 7307 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, (213) 934-9700). The bash includes a post-midnight buffet, champagne and dancing, with bubbly also served at intermission. 10 p.m. $60.

“Family Secrets”(Heliotrope Theatre, 660 N. Heliotrope Ave., (213) 660-8587). There are two seatings for Sheri Glaser’s one-woman show: 7 p.m., including champagne, $25; and 10 p.m., with champagne, hors d’oeuvres and party, $35.

“Aspirin and Elephants”(Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 4th St., Santa Monica, (213) 394-9779, 459-1548). This Jerry Mayer comedy will play twice: 6:30 p.m., with hors d’oeuvres, champagne, party favors and noisemakers included, $35; and 9:30 p.m., with midnight buffet, $50.

“The Rape of Lucrece”(Globe Playhouse, 1107 N. Kings Road, West Hollywood, (213) 654-5623). The playhouse launches its performances of Shakespeare’s poem on Monday, followed by champagne and an open forum with the cast. 8 p.m. $8.50 (seniors and unemployed actors) to $25.

Other shows playing on New Year’s Eve--but without offering special refreshments--include:

“Jerome Robbins’ Broadway”(Shubert Theatre, 2020 Avenue of the Stars, Century City, (800) 233-3123, 8 p.m.). $30-$50.

“Finkel’s Follies”(Westwood Playhouse, 10886 Le Conte Ave., Westwood, (213) 208-5454). 5 p.m. (9 p.m. sold out). $18-$28.

Penn and Teller’s “Refrigerator Tour”(Wiltern Theatre, 3790 Wilshire Blvd. at Western, (213) 380-5005). 7 and 11 p.m. $30-$37.50.

Pop Music

Los Lobos, the Blasters (Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, (213) 468-1777). Two of Los Angeles’ most soulful and critically admired rock bands pair up once more in an evening that includes a glass of champagne and a party favor. 9:15. $33.50.

Stray Cats (Spice, 7070 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, (213) 460-7070). The rockabilly trio’s show includes breakfast buffet, champagne and dancing until 4 a.m. 9 p.m. $60.

Montgomery, Plant and Stritch (Cinegrill, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, 7000 Hollywood Blvd., (213) 466-7000). The cabaret trio specializing in jazz and Broadway tunes is part of a package that includes dinner, dancing and champagne. 10 p.m. $120.

Ashford and Simpson (Strand, 1700 S. Pacific Coast Hwy., Redondo Beach, (213) 316-1700). The husband-and-wife singing/composing team has written some of Motown’s greatest hits. Two shows, including neither dinner nor drinks: 8 p.m., $50; 11:30 p.m., $85.

L.A. Guns (Palace, 1735 N. Vine St., Hollywood, (213) 461-9798). The rock band headlines a package that includes breakfast buffet and champagne at midnight. 9 p.m. $50. Add $10 and you can also see the Havalinas in the upstairs VIP Court.

Jazz

Ernie Andrews, Jack McDuff (Marla’s Memory Lane, 2323 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., (213) 294-8430). This seemingly never-ending gala features the powerhouse singer and blues-bent organist--playing until 4 a.m.!!!--a prime rib and lobster dinner, champagne toast, and, a Continental breakfast at 4 a.m. If you’re still not full, there will be a complete breakfast at 8 a.m. 9 p.m. $65.

Hank Crawford (Birdland West, 105 W. Broadway, Long Beach, (213) 436-9341). Besides the saxophonist who loves to swing the blues, you’ll get a turkey and ham dinner, dancing and a midnight champagne toast. 7 p.m. $65 per person, $125 per couple.

Freddie Hubbard Quintet, Ernie Watts (Catalina Bar and Grill, 1640 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hollywood, (213) 466-2210). This bash, with a special dinner with choice of five entrees, really gets going when the trumpeter’s band, with the guest saxman in tow, is spotlighted on a National Public Radio New Year’s Eve show live from the club. 7:30 p.m. $90.

Moacir Santos (Rio Bar & Grill, 851 S. Grand St., (213) 743-1572). The legendary Brazilian saxophonist and singer will make a very rare appearance--he hasn’t performed in public in almost a decade--with Ricardo Lemmers’ band. The party includes a Brazilian buffet, bottle of wine, champagne toast. 9 p.m. $90.

Bob Marks and the Hollywood All Stars (Legends of Hollywood, 6555 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, (213) 464-7780). Here’s a party with a price to smile at: bottle of champagne per couple, filet mignon dinner and plenty of jazz. 9 p.m. $16.95.

Charlie Chiarenza, Al Aarons, Lou Forestieri, Pat Senatore and John Guerin (Silverscreen Lounge, Hyatt on Sunset, 8401 Sunset Blvd., (213) 656-1234). You can either enjoy a five-course dinner, and jazz from the guitarist, trumpeter and their friends ($75), or just jazz ($45, includes two drinks). Dinner from 5 p.m., music from 9 p.m.

Bill Berry’s Duke Ellington Revisited Band (Grand Avenue Bar, Biltmore Hotel, 515 S. Olive St., (213) 612-1560). The evening includes a buffet, open bar, champagne toast and dancing. 9 p.m. $110.

Ruth Price, Tom Garvin, John Heard (Central Park West, 11604 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood, (213) 207-9998). This Westside bistro offers two seatings, with a special dinner and champagne at each: 6-9 p.m, with solo piano provided by Tom Garvin, $50; and 9:15 p.m.-2 a.m., with the headliner singer and her partners, $65.

David Hughes and Moments Notice (Jax, 339 N. Brand Ave., Glendale, (818) 500-1604). As Stan Freberg might have put it, Jax bought ‘The Price Is Right’ for New Year’s Eve: No cover. Straight-ahead sounds from Hughes, plus a regular menu at regular prices. Dinner: $9-$22.50, most drinks $2.75-$6. Jax has 100-year-old cognac at $50. 8 p.m.

Luther Hughes Trio With Brandon Fields and Tony Guerrero (El Matador, 16903 Algonquin St., Huntington Beach, (714) 846-5337). Contemporary sounds from the bassist plus a gourmet Mexican dinner, champagne toast and dancing. 8 p.m. $35.

Billy Childs (Le Cafe, the Room Upstairs, 14633 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, (818) 986-2662). The crack pianist fronts a quintet in two shows: 7:30, $15 cover; and 9:30, $20 cover. You may order dinner downstairs beforehand, if you like.

Music

Pacific Symphony, conducted by Theodore Plute, Bill Cole (Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel, 666 Anton, Costa Mesa, (714) 474-2109, 474-4233). The gala, dubbed “Avanti” and decorated in a contemporary Italian motif, includes champagne receptions, an Italian nouveau cuisine dinner, a concert featuring soprano Evelyn de la Rosa and dance music provided by Cole’s 13-piece band. 7 p.m. $150.
