Wetlands Public Tours--Amigos de Bolsa Chica is offering free public tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands Saturday. There have been many interesting bird sightings of late, group officials say, in part because of the extreme cold in the Pacific Northwest.

Recent sightings at the wetlands include mergansers, white pelicans and many common loons. Those wanting to tour the wetlands should meet at the boardwalk in the parking lot of the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve Center.

The center is on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, 1 mile south of Warner Avenue. The free tours will be given at 20-minute intervals beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 10:30 a.m.

New Officers Election--Amigos de Bolsa Chica will be holding its general meeting and election of new officers on Jan. 9. The evening will start at 6:30 with a potluck dinner. At 7:30 p.m. Shell Western will present a program on the Bolsa Chica oil field. The meeting and election will follow the presentation.

The meeting will be held in Room B-7 at Huntington Beach City Hall, 2000 Main St. Call (714) 897-7003 for information.
