Holidays at ‘Home Alone’: It may have set a Christmas Day record--with opening day ticket sales of $6.4 million--but “The Godfather Part III” had to settle for second place during its first weekend at the box office. Paramount Pictures’ long-awaited, $55-million-plus sequel earned an estimated $14.1 million from Friday through Sunday. Meanwhile, 20th Century-Fox’s modestly budgeted ($18 million) kid comedy “Home Alone” continued as the season’s runaway hit with ticket sales of approximately $16.2 million. Rounding out the weekend’s top five, in estimated figures, were “Kindergarten Cop” (Universal Pictures), $11.2 million; “Dances With Wolves” (Orion Pictures), $7.6 million and “Look Who’s Talking Too” (Tri-Star Pictures), $6.5 million.
