An electrical short sparked a fire that caused $25,000 in damage to two Lloyd’s Pest Control trucks early Friday morning, a San Diego Fire Department spokesman said.

San Diego police said the fire broke out about 3:40 a.m. at the pest control company’s parking lot on Sherman and Banks streets.

One of the trunks had a 50-gallon tank and dry exterminating chemicals. Herb Field, etymologist and vice president of the company, said the tank survived the fire intact and water did not reach any of the dry chemicals.

A spokesman for the Fire Department said no evacuations were necessary and no chemicals were released into the air.
