Eight Reasons Why Georgia Tech Deserves No. 1 Over Colorado

Share

How can anyone, even Bill McCartney, claim that Colorado deserves the national championship over Georgia Tech? Some facts to consider:

1. Colorado’s record should be 10-2-1. Just a few weeks ago, every sportscaster and writer in the nation was maligning Colorado and McCartney for not forfeiting their “fifth-down” victory over Missouri.

2. Colorado lost to Illinois, which was crushed in the Hall of Fame Bowl by Clemson, which was beaten by Georgia Tech at Clemson this year.

3. Colorado beat Nebraska by 15 points. Georgia Tech beat it by 24.

4. Georgia Tech beat then-top-ranked Virginia at Virginia.

5. Colorado did not impressively beat Notre Dame, which proved to be more myth than substance this year.

6. The ACC sent five teams to bowl games this year and had the best winning percentage of all conferences and independents.

7. Four of the teams that Georgia Tech defeated this year went to bowl games.

8. Most of all, Georgia Tech is the only undefeated team in Division I-A.

Colorado vs. Georgia Tech, Saturday, Jan. 26, Tampa--that would be a nice opener for the Super Bowl, don’t you think?
