Man, 18, Fatally Shot in Drive-By Attack
An 18-year-old man was shot to death in a drive-by attack east of the Coliseum in Los Angeles, authorities said Thursday. Several men were standing with some friends near 37th Street and Grand Avenue about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday when a car drove by and showered them with bullets.
Gabriel Martinez Sotelo, the only victim, was struck once in the head. He died at California Hospital 35 minutes later, Sgt. Gary Hines said.
No description was available of the suspects or their car, which sped off southbound on Grand. The motive appeared to be gang-related, but Hines said Sotelo was not immediately recognized as being affiliated with a gang.
