Man Held on Drug Charge
Sheriff’s deputies who were called to respond to a fight in a Rancho Palos Verdes motel room last week stumbled onto a suspected drug lab and arrested a Garden Grove man on suspicion of the manufacture and possession of a controlled substance.
Kevin N. Staton, 30, was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday outside the Tasman Sea Motor Hotel on Western Avenue, said Sgt. Jim Sully of the Lomita substation. Deputies found several glass containers of chemicals used to make methamphetamine when they entered Staton’s room, where the fighting had been reported. A 26-year-old woman who had been staying at the motel with Staton was being sought for questioning.
Staton was being held Saturday on $500,000 bail.
