COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Henjum Scores 28 Points in SCC’s Victory

Mike Henjum scored 28 points, including seven three-point baskets, as Southern California College defeated Azusa Pacific, 97-81, in a Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday at Southern California College.

Elbert Davis scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half to help the Vanguards (14-3, 1-1) take a 50-39 halftime lead. Jeff Bickmore scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds for SCC.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Southern California College 78, Azusa Pacific 71--Kristen Bevis scored 24 points, Suzanne Bakos added 20 and Lori Halliday 16 for host Southern California College (8-8, 1-1).

In Pacific 10 Conference wrestling:

Cal State Fullerton 17, Oregon State 15--David Jones’ victory in the heavyweight division gave the Titans the victory at Fullerton College. Fullerton (5-4, 1-2) trailed, 15-14, before Jones’ match. Jones defeated Matt Willhite, 6-4.

In Big West Conference men’s swimming:

UC Irvine 128, Fresno State 77--Five swimmers won individual events for host UC Irvine (3-1).

In Big West Conference women’s swimming:

Fresno State 157, UC Irvine 40--Lisa Williams won the 1,000 freestyle (10:34.75) and Liz Koch won the 200-yard backstroke for host Irvine (3-3).

In nonconference women’s gymnastics:

Cal State Fullerton 184.75, Stanford 182.65--Stacey Harris won the individual vault and the individual floor exercise and Stacy Fowlkes won the individual uneven bars for host Fullerton.

At the San Jose State men’s gymnastics tournament, Cal State Fullerton finished seventh with 251.35 points. New Mexico was first (274.75).

At the UC Santa Barbara men’s volleyball tournament, UC Irvine lost three best-of-three matches to finish 10th.
