Share

An alleged accomplice in a Thousand Oaks gang shooting was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder early Monday after a Ventura County sheriff’s deputy chanced upon a car parked in Borchard Park after closing hours, authorities said.

Joseph Lorenzini, a 21-year-old transient, was being held in Ventura County Jail on $250,000 bail. A deputy arrested the driver of the car in Borchard Park on an outstanding traffic warrant, who identified her passenger as Lorenzini, who was being sought by investigators.

A 17-year-old is in custody as the accused triggerman in the Jan. 7 shooting, and investigators are seeking two other alleged gang members, Sheriff’s Detective Ernie Montagna said.

Montagna said the four confronted a group of rival gang members who were in a parked car. A 17-year-old passenger struck in the arm by a bullet has been released from the hospital.
