NAMES IN THE GAMES : Mullins Returns to His Classes
Former University of Mississippi football player Chucky Mullins, who was paralyzed by a neck injury in a football game against Vanderbilt on Oct. 28, 1989, has returned to classes.
Mullins, 21, vowed to rebuild his life, starting with a college degree.
Mullins said it felt good to be back in school, and he saw a lot of friends. “I’m ready to do my education right now,” he said.
Mullins’ guardian, Carver Phillips, said Mullins is taking U.S. history and a theater class.
“He’s majoring in communications,” Phillips said. “He wants to go into sports broadcasting.”
