VENTURA : Man Arrested on Attempted Killing

Share

A 25-year-old Ventura man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempting to kill a Ventura woman who was found partly conscious in a ravine earlier this week.

Philip Edward Flores was stopped because his older-model van matched the description of a vehicle that was seen in the area of Hall Canyon Road shortly before 44-year-old Cynthia Zemba was found at the bottom of the Prince Barranca, police documents say.

After arresting Flores for outstanding warrants, police found blood in his van. The suspect was interviewed by detectives, arrested for attempted murder and booked into Ventura County Jail.

Zemba, who is in critical but stable condition at Ventura County Medical Center, was in shock and unable to speak when two women who were looking at a house for sale spotted her in the nearby barranca Monday. Zemba still has not been able to tell investigators what happened.
