GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP

In the Sunset League:

Ocean View 66, Edison 47--In an upset, Nikki Vivion scored 23 points and Kristin Brun scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds for visiting Ocean View (12-7, 3-2). Talia Crooks had 18 points and Erika Miller 14 for No. 9 Edison (13-7, 3-3).

Fountain Valley 61, Westminster 34--The Barons outscored Westminster, 20-8, in the third quarter. Michelle Kravik had 10 points and Shanna Wilson had nine points on three three-point baskets for host Fountain Valley (12-7, 4-1).

In the Century League:

Canyon 41, Santa Ana Valley 32--Erin Waggoner scored 18 points for Canyon. Mai Pham had 10 for host Santa Ana Valley (5-11, 1-4).

Foothill 43, Villa Park 24--Kara Kooi scored 11 points and Tiffany Dawson had 10 for visiting Foothill (3-12, 3-2).

El Modena 62, Orange 32--Michelle Duckworth scored 14 points, Melizza Benitez scored 11 points and Myhanh Nguyen scored nine points and had 12 assists for El Modena (12-4, 4-1). Ginnie Hall scored 21 of Orange’s 32 points.

In the Empire League:

Loara 63, Katella 59--Tracy Titus had 36 points, 20 rebounds, five steals and five blocks for host Loara (10-9, 2-2). Chris Carrillo had 16 for Katella.

Esperanza 52, El Dorado 28--Wendy Fullmer scored 19 points and Carrie Edwards had 10 for host Esperanza (12-5, 3-1).

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 40, Troy 36--Sandy Wilcox had 12 points and Marla Roque had 10 for host Sunny Hills (5-14, 1-3).

In the Orange League:

Brea-Olinda 59, Valencia 38--Nicole Erickson had 19 points and Jody Anton had 14 for Brea-Olinda (17-0, 4-0), which led by only 27-24 at the half. Judy Hlavac had 11 points for Valencia (10-5, 3-1). Anton held Sommer McLane to eight points, half her average.

Savanna 77, Anaheim 23--Carrie Frederick had a triple-double--25 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds--and broke the Savanna career-scoring record at Anaheim. With 1,045 points, Frederick surpassed Darlene Trenery, who scored 1,026 before graduating in 1983. Stacey Aliff added 19 points for Savanna (16-2, 3-1).

Magnolia 50, Western 39--Joyce Pe’a had a career-high 30 points and 14 rebounds for host Magnolia (10-4, 1-3).

In the Olympic League:

Capistrano Valley Christian 48, Ontario Christian 42--Elainie Kollias scored 14 points and Hester Daniels 10 points for host Capistrano Valley Christian (10-3, 3-2).

Orange Lutheran 48, Valley Christian 31--Kara Stephens had 18 points and eight steals for visiting Orange Lutheran (6-5, 4-1).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Beach 47, Century 33--Laurie Rush had 20 points and Nikki Klempen 18 for host Laguna Beach (3-10, 1-3).

Costa Mesa 68, Laguna Hills 30--Olivia DiCamilli scored 25 points and had 15 rebounds and Rachel Ward scored 11 points for visiting Costa Mesa (13-6, 4-0). Tania Stevens scored 13 for Laguna Hills (3-10, 1-3).

Estancia 62, Trabuco Hills 32--Melody Earle had 22 points and Patrice Lumpkin and Monique Sweet each had 10 for Estancia (16-1, 4-0). Leah Braatz had 21 rebounds, which broke the school single-game record of 19 by Erica Goodman in 1988.

In the Sea View League:

Woodbridge 71, Saddleback 30--Deanna Harry scored 32 points and had 20 rebounds for Woodbridge (14-3, 3-0).

Tustin 63, Newport Harbor 57--Christine Garner and Sherri Needham each had 23 points and Needham had 14 rebounds for visiting Newport Harbor (17-3, 4-0). Valencia Onelas and Maureen McLaren each had 15 for the Sailors (8-8, 1-2).

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 54, Mission Viejo 26--Adara Newidouski had 14 points and Lizette Zamora had 11 for host Dana Hills (11-6, 2-2).
