Costa Mesa’s Adams Wins in Racquetball

Lynn Adams of Costa Mesa reached the quarterfinals of the Ektelon Winter Classic women’s tournament Friday at Racquetball World.

Adams, the top-seeded player, defeated Sandy Robson of Chicago, 11-6, 11-9, 11-3, in the round of 16.

The other top three seeded players also won.

Michelle Gilman of Boise, Ida., the No. 2-seeded player, swept Marcy Lynch of Philadelphia, 11-4, 11-1, 11-4. No. 3 Caryn McKinney of Atlanta defeated J.J. Risch of San Antonio, 11-4, 11-5, 11-2, and No. 4 Toni Bevelock of Santa Ana defeated Cheryl Gudinas of Chicago, 11-1, 11-2, 11-1.

The other round of 16 winners were Lynne Coburn of Baltimore, Malia Bailey of Norfolk, Va., Kaye Kuhfeld of Indianapolis and Jackie Paraiso of San Diego.

The quarterfinals are at 10:30 a.m. and noon today and the semifinals are at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.

The final is Sunday at 2 p.m. There is no admission either day.
