California IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Raiders Fan Held in Robberies
A man arrested in the investigation of 24 Sacramento-area bank robberies allegedly told detectives he was trying to finance his addiction to the Los Angeles Raiders, authorities said. Claude Dawson Jones, 32, who was held in lieu of $1 million bail, was arrested in his motel room, where federal agents found an airplane ticket to Buffalo, N.Y., and a ticket to the American Football Conference championship game between the Raiders and the Buffalo Bills. Sacramento County Sheriff Glenn Craig described Jones as a “very avid Raiders fan. The robberies in part had been committed to provide transportation and ticket costs to Raiders games.”
