COUNTYWIDE : Contract Awarded to Update Air Plan

Share

The County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to pay a consulting firm up to $86,235 to assess the environmental impact of the county’s updated Air Quality Management Plan.

The contract went to ENSR Consulting and Engineering of Camarillo.

The county Air Pollution Control District is updating the plan, which went into effect in 1979. It was updated in 1982 and 1987, and will be revised in 1994, spokesman Bill Mount said.

The county is working to improve air quality so that it meets federal ozone standards. The management plan targets sources of emissions, such as motor vehicles and industry, and provides strategies for reducing pollution, such as car-pooling.

ENSR will assess the environmental impacts of the plan’s emission-control measures on air quality, land use, energy resources, transportation and water resources.

A draft of the environmental report is expected by April. Supervisors are required to certify the document by Aug. 27.
