In other Palomar League games:

San Dieguito 53, Torrey Pines 48--San Dieguito trailed, 29-27, at the half but outscored Torrey Pines by seven in the second half. Tim Fleming led San Dieguito (11-7, 4-3) with 14 points and Sean Howard added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Craig Brown’s 12 points led seventh-ranked Torrey Pines (15-5, 5-2), which gave up sole possession of first place.

Vista 78, Orange Glen 63--Jason Barnes scored 18 points and Chris Johnson added 15 for Vista (6-11, 2-5). Brian Schofield led Orange Glen (0-13, 0-7) with 22 points.

Rancho Buena Vista 79, Mt. Carmel 74--Darryl Parker’s 28 points and 14 rebounds led RBV (9-9, 4-3) to an upset of second-ranked Mt. Carmel (14-4, 4-3). Brad Grubaugh added 13 for RBV, which outscored Mt. Carmel, 27-18, in the fourth quarter. Dana Pope led Mt. Carmel with 26 and Chris Goode added 18.

Avocado League

San Pasqual 79, Oceanside 54--Erik Meek poured in 29 points to lead San Pasqual (9-6, 5-2). Teammate David Durst had 19, as did Marlon Jenkins for Oceanside (6-12, 3-4).

El Camino 90, Escondido 61--Sean Scurry scored 27 and teammate Jeff Reeves, who made five three-pointers, added 23 to lead El Camino (13-3, 6-1). For Escondido (9-7, 3-4), Damian Cephus led with 21, and Joe Pippins had 17.

Carlsbad 60, San Marcos 47--Chad Nelson scored a game-high 21 points, including five three-pointers. Nelson, a 5-11 junior point guard, has 16 three-pointers in his last four games. Matt Tague added 16 points and Calvin Coleman had 10 points and three steals for Carlsbad (10-8, 5-2). Chad Morton led San Marcos (3-11, 0-7) with 14 points.

Metro Conference

Southwest 55, Chula Vista 52--The game was tied with less than a minute to go after Chula Vista’s Miguel Quinones hit a jump shot, but Southwest retook the lead when Devin Patterson hit two free throws with about 20 seconds left.

Patterson finished with 15 and teammate Jerry Racette, whose late free throw provided the three-point margin, had a game-high 26 for Southwest (13-7, 7-2).

Jerome Green led Chula Vista (12-9, 6-3) with 14.

Hilltop 80, Castle Park 61--Chris White, Courtney Brown scored 20 and teammate Chris White added 17 for visiting Hilltop (9-12, 3-6). Eric Bell led Castle Park (6-12, 3-6) with 18.

Sweetwater 74, Montgomery 53--Melvin Rushing scored a game-high 30 points for 10th-ranked Sweetwater (16-5, 8-1). Leslie Shaw led Montgomery (4-14, 3-6) with 21 points.

Bonita Vista 64, Mar Vista 54--Rope Perry scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Mike Barnett added 11 points for Bonita Vista (12-5, 6-3). Jim Gruber led Mar Vista (1-16, 0-9) with 17 points.

Nonleague

Tri-City Christian 88, Mountain Empire 80--Nathan Durrance scored a game-high 32 points and Jeff Lemke added 25 points and eight steals for Mountain Empire.
