Rally to Support U.S. Troops Planned
A rally in support of U.S. troops fighting in the Gulf War is set for noon Saturday at Hawthorne Memorial Park.
The rally was planned by Pam Sturgeon, president of the Centinela Valley Union High School District’s board of trustees, whose 20-year-old son, George, is with an Army engineering battalion in Saudi Arabia.
Sturgeon said she organized the rally because she was “tired of hearing about all the anti-war protesters” on the news. “As a mother, I’m just absolutely livid about all the attention” they are getting, she said.
The rally at the park, at Prairie Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard, will be hosted by several local officials and will include a support group of military wives.
