NEW ORLEANS —
Derwin (Tank) Collins scored nine points in the final eight minutes, pacing 24th-ranked New Orleans to an 81-70 victory over Alabama Birmingham Friday night.
The Privateers (17-2) extended their victory string to 17, third-longest in major-college basketball. Top-ranked Nevada Las Vegas and fourth-ranked Ohio State have longer winning streaks.
Alabama Birmingham (13-7) fought back from an 11-point deficit with 16:12 to go in the game to tie it at 54 with 8:22 to go.
