Veterinarian Defended, Criticized

Share

Thank you for printing the article about Dr. George Shaw of Sun Valley, a major service for every thinking pet owner and anyone who has livestock.

In 1986 I began taking my dogs to him for their shots, and having him care for my livestock. During one year he misdiagnosed my livestock twice (concerning pregnancy and birthing) with no serious outcome, but in September of 1987 his judgment killed my Chihuahua.

The next day George Shaw let me know I owed him $30 for the “care” he had given my dog. He had the cheapest rates in the valley. (“You get what you pay for.”)

I wrote to the California State Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine. Their letter stated: “Following a thorough review of this complaint, the Board is of the opinion that your complaint has merit. The Board would also like you to know that it has taken appropriate action to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.”

I don’t know what action the Board took, but I do know that between 1988 and 1990, dogs, cats and horses have died while in the care of George Shaw.
