A 19-year-old Spring Valley student was listed in fair condition after undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds received when a La Mesa party got out of hand Saturday night, leading to the death of one man, police and hospital spokeswomen said Monday.

Charles Hall was listed in fair condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital after treatment Monday for gunshot wounds to his right leg and left arm, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Robbie Loftus, 19, of Lemon Grove, who was shot once in the head at the party, was pronounced dead at Sharp Memorial Hospital at 1:50 a.m. Sunday.

On Monday, sheriff’s homicide detectives searched the El Cajon apartment of Nadir Jamil Mikhail, 20, a resident alien from Iraq, who is still being sought in the attack, Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Robbie Hill said.

Mikhail’s brother was brought in for questioning after he was stopped by El Cajon police Monday morning while driving Mikhal’s Mercedes-Benz away from the apartment complex, in the 700 block of North 3rd Street, where he lives with Mikhail, Hill said.

Mikhail and another man were called to a party in the 11300 block of Explorer Road in La Mesa just before midnight Saturday to help eject 30 to 40 uninvited guests, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

Mikhail allegedly fired several shots from an automatic pistol at the guests in the front yard of the house before fleeing.

Mikhail is believed to be armed and dangerous, Hill said.
