NHL ROUNDUP : Blackhawks Beat Canucks, 1-0

Steve Larmer’s 31st goal midway through the first period and the goaltending of Ed Belfour, who stopped 28 shots, gave the Chicago Blackhawks a 1-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Monday night at Vancouver.

The Blackhawks, who improved the NHL’s best record to 34-15-4, are 16-8 on the road.

Toronto 4, Minnesota 0--At Toronto, Peter Eng stopped 32 shots by the North Stars for the first shutout of his career and the Maple Leafs won for the first time in 1991.

Dave Hannan scored twice to back Ing’s goaltending as the Maple Leafs ended an 0-7-3 slump since their last victory on Dec. 29.

Mike Krushelnyski and Michel Petit also scored for Toronto.

New Jersey 6, Detroit 2--John MacLean broke a scoring slump with the fifth hat trick of his career and the Devils downed the Red Wings at Detroit.

MacLean’s three goals were two more than he scored in New Jersey’s last 11 games.
