UCI Opens Baseball Season Today
UC Irvine’s baseball team, which had its best record since 1980 last season, opens its season at 2 p.m. today at Loyola Marymount.
The Anteaters finished 34-25 last season, including a nine-game winning streak early in the season.
Al Rodriguez, a first-team Big West Conference shortstop who batted .345 with 15 doubles and 26 runs batted in, is the Anteaters’ top returning player.
Irvine’s home opener is at 3 p.m. Thursday against Cal State Los Angeles.
