HUNTINGTON BEACH : Police Seek Witness to Attack, Robbery

Share

Police are looking for a witness who saw a pregnant woman get knocked down and robbed last month by two men.

Just after the Dec. 13 robbery, a witness gave another bystander a description of the robbers’ car and license plate number but left the scene before police arrived.

Police, using the witness’s information, arrested two suspects later that night.

Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ed McErlain said Monday that the suspects had to be released because of insufficient evidence. The district attorney’s office told investigators that the witness needed to be questioned in order to build a case against the suspects.

“We need to find the witness so he can help us prosecute,” McErlain said.

The crime occurred at a condominium complex on Brookhurst Street when two men robbed Myoung Cha Lee, 36, of Huntington Beach at knifepoint, police said.

The robbers fled with assorted jewelry, a car phone and more than $500 in cash, police said.

Lee, who was nine months pregnant, went into labor after the attack and was taken to an Anaheim hospital, police said. Police on Monday did not know Lee’s condition.

Anyone with information on the witness’s whereabouts can contact Huntington Beach Police Detective Mike Nakama at (714) 536-5962.
