Two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol were filed against Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale by the city attorney’s office today.

Drysdale, 54, will be arraigned Feb. 14 in Division 61 of Los Angeles Municipal Court, according to city attorney office spokesman Ted Goldstein. The maximum penalty for each count is six months in jail, a $1,000 fine or both.

Drysdale, an announcer for the Dodgers since 1988, was arrested Jan. 21 after the car he was driving collided with a car driven by Yasmin Dawoodjee, 24, about 7:35 p.m., Goldstein said, adding that the woman suffered minor injuries.

Drysdale was given a breath test at the scene and registered a blood-alcohol content of .19, more than double the limit of .08, officer Tom Ohmer said. Drysdale was later released on $5,000 bail.

Four days after the incident, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to file felony drunk driving charges against Drysdale, instead referring the case to the city attorney’s office.
