California IN BRIEF : CRESCENT CITY : Prisoners, Guards Injured in Fights

Two dozen prisoners and nine correctional officers suffered minor injuries at the remote Pelican Bay state prison when inmates refused to give up their eating utensils and the guards entered the cells and took them by force. Prison spokesman Al Deinus said the injuries occurred Thursday after separate incidents at breakfast and dinner.
