Applause to ABC and Marlo Thomas for showing a timely portrayal of our complex and painful relationship in the Middle East in “Held Hostage: The Sis and Jerry Levin Story” (Jan. 13). It’s the true story of a Jewish journalist taken hostage while working in Lebanon and finally allowed to escape because his Christian wife used a form of diplomacy that is so sorely lacking by our political leaders. She kept the lines of communication open. She was honest. She listened to the other side and didn’t make insulting provocative remarks.
