NHL ROUNDUP : Bruins and Rookie Goalie Defeat Oilers in Overtime

The Edmonton Oilers jumped to a 4-1 lead Tuesday night at Boston against a team that has lost both goaltenders.

With rookie Norm Foster playing his third game in goal, the Bruins steadied, then rallied for a 6-5 victory in overtime.

Rookie Ken Hodge Jr. who sparked the rally, completed his hat trick with eight seconds left in overtime.

Petr Klima also had three goals to spark the Oilers to their big lead. His last goal early in the third period gave Edmonton a 5-3 lead. Hodge scored at 1:41 and Peter Douris tied the score with 13:22 left in regulation.

With Bruin goaltenders Andy Moog and Reggie Lemelin injured, Foster lost his first game and has won the last two.

Foster stopped the last 13 Edmonton shots, including two in overtime, to end the Oilers’ four-game winning streak.

New Jersey 2, Calgary 1--The Kings couldn’t have asked for a better night. They were the only Smythe Division team to win.

The Flames fired 38 shots at Chris Terreri at East Rutherford, N. J., but got only one past him.

Claude Lemieux and Brendan Shanahan scored for the Devils.

Washington 5, Vancouver 3--Dino Ciccarelli scored his 400th goal early in the third period at Landover, Md. to ignite a four-goal rally that led the Capitals.

The Canucks are winless in seven games. They are 0-2 under new Coach Pat Quinn.
