“Young Guns II,” the bloody buddy Western starring Emilio Estevez and Kiefer Sutherland, blasted its way from No. 11 to No. 3 on the Billboard rental chart. Some retailers think Westerns are of limited value because women traditionally tend not to rent them, but “Young Guns II” is different because it’s loaded with young hunk actors who have large female followings. Spike Lee’s “Mo Better Blues,” starring Denzel Washington as a jazz musician, doesn’t look like it’s going to be a smash rental. In its second week on the chart, it moved up just three notches to No. 14. “Repossessed,” the “Exorcist” spoof starring Leslie Nielsen and Linda Blair, jumped from No. 33 to No. 24. “The Lemon Sisters,” the female buddy movie starring Diane Keaton and Carol Kane, debuted at No. 26.

* “The Freshman,” an offbeat comedy starring Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando, is quickly moving toward the head of the class, jumping from No. 36 to No. 8 in its second week on the rental chart. Brando’s acclaimed parody of his Don Corleone role in “The Godfather” is the big attraction. The film did decent box-office business too--$21.2 million.
