Lynwood : City-Sponsored Magazine to Be Published in Spanish

Share

The City Council has voted unanimously to publish a city-sponsored magazine in Spanish for Lynwood’s Latino population.

Mayor Pro Tem Armando Rea, who initiated the action, said that it was time to start alerting the Spanish-speaking residents to civic events and city policies.

At least 70% of Lynwood’s population of 50,000 is Latino and the majority of them do not speak English, Rea said.

The city’s current magazine, Challenge, is published and distributed to residents’ homes four times a year. The Spanish publication will be delivered with the Challenge, and is expected to cost an estimated $6,500 per printing.
