An 86-year-old woman was tied up, beaten and terrorized for two hours by young men who ransacked her home, a police spokesman said Thursday.

The victim, a Vietnamese woman, was alone at home at about 11 a.m. Wednesday when three young Vietnamese men smashed a rear window of her house in the 15800 block of Overton Street and forced their way in, Sgt. Ron Manda reported.

They found the woman alone in the kitchen. They tied her up and, over the next two hours, threatened her, demanded money and beat her head, Manda said.

They also ransacked her home in what investigating officers described as the worst case of vandalism they had ever seen, Manda said.

Nearly every piece of furniture was broken, vases were smashed and bottles of cola were poured into a VCR and a large screen television.

“It appears the family ticked somebody off, but we have nothing to point to a motive and no suspects,” Manda said.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries of the face and mouth. The only property stolen was a car stereo taken from her garage, Manda said.
