THE SWEET SPOT: Seven thousand folks who make and sell candy open their convention in Anaheim Thursday, one of the year’s biggest candy-giving days. The Gulf angle? Distributors will have samples to be sent to the troops. Won’t desert temperatures be a problem? A spokeswoman says “coated chocolate” will be sent and adds: “No brand names, but you can imagine what they are: They melt in your hand and not in your mouth.”
