Sierra Madre : Council Adopts Water Plan
Faced with the possibility of water rationing if the drought continues, the City Council on Tuesday adopted a plan designed to save an estimated 111 million gallons of water over the next five years.
The city’s Urban Water Management Plan includes provisions for a water conservation ordinance, a general water awareness program and a homeowner conservation program.
The water conservation ordinance, which would give the council greater control over the city’s water resources, could become effective by this summer, Mayor George Maurer said. The ordinance will require a public hearing at a future council meeting.
