COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 ROUNDUP : Beavers Snap Losing Streak by Easily Defeating Huskies

Oregon State snapped a four-game Pacific 10 Conference losing streak by defeating Washington, 80-63, Thursday night at Corvallis, Ore.

The Beavers (12-9 overall, 6-5 in the Pac-10) broke the game open with an 18-7 run to start the second half. Mario Jackson scored 10 of his 14 points and Will Brantley had eight of his 17 during the run, which gave them a 51-35 lead.

Washington (12-10), which lost its fifth in a row to drop deeper into last place in the Pac-10 at 3-9, got 24 points from Doug Meekins.

Oregon State led by as many as 10 in the first half, but he went 3 1/2 minutes without a point and Washington cut the lead to five by halftime.

Oregon 75, Washington State 65--Terrell Brandon, held without a basket in the second half, made five free throws in the final two minutes to help the Ducks win at Eugene, Ore.

Brandon, the conference’s leading scorer at 28.5 points per game, led the Ducks (11-10, 6-5) with 21 points.

The Cougars (15-7, 7-5) fell two games behind first-place Arizona.
